In September 2014 our family was met with the shocking news that the newest member of our family, Emery Lynn, had the disease, Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic disease that requires lots of daily medication and treatments, as well as frequent hospital visits. While medical advancements currently improve the quality of life in people with CF, there is currently NO CURE and the life expectancy is in the mid 30's. We are anxiously awaiting a cure for CF.
Shortly after Emery was diagnosed, we welcomed another sweet little girl into our family, Kimber Ann. Kimber was the most beautiful baby girl and she lit up whatever room she was in. She was truly our little angel. In August 2015, after a beautiful day at the park, little Kimber laid down for a nap. While sleeping, this little angel, unexpectedly returned to our Father in Heaven; the cause of death, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS affects approximately 4,000 families every year, leaving them heartbroken and alone. The American SIDS Foundation is focused on locating and preventing the cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
At Kimber's Karamels, our mission is to raise funds to help provide for Emery Lynn and other CF Children. We would also like to start a SIDS support group for families who may experience this same tragedy.
Tragic events occur in everyone's lives. We are not strangers to tragedy, nor are we unique in tragedy. Our goal is to pay tribute to those who are still with us and those who have passed through this life before us.
